Procedures

In recent decades, surgery and medication have helped millions of patients successfully regain control of their weight. However, achieving a normal weight often brings the challenge of sagging and loose skin, which can affect both physical comfort and self-esteem. Many patients seek medical procedures not only to improve their health but also to feel better about their appearance. For many, procedures like abdominoplasty or a lower body lift offer a way to enhance their body image by removing excess skin and fat and reshaping the body’s contours.

While both surgeries target excess skin and fat, they differ in scope and focus. An abdominoplasty primarily targets the abdomen, addressing excess skin, fat, and muscle laxity in the abdominal area. This procedure is ideal for those whose main concern is a protruding or sagging belly while maintaining a naturally contoured body shape. A lower body lift, on the other hand, is more comprehensive, addressing the abdomen, hips, thighs, and buttocks. This procedure is often chosen by individuals who have experienced significant weight loss and have excess skin and fat in multiple areas of the lower body.

Dr. Oliver Florica is highly experienced in body contouring, combining surgeries such as tummy tucks, buttock lifts, and thigh and arm lipectomies to completely reshape the body. His expertise was developed and refined over several decades of training in plastic and reconstructive surgery, during which he performed numerous procedures in his private practice.

Abdominoplasty

What is Abdominoplasty

Abdominoplasty, commonly known as a “tummy tuck,” is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin and fat from the front of the tummy and tightens the muscles. The surgery requires reshaping of the belly button and Dr Florica also includes the mons pubis lift. This surgery is often performed to improve the appearance of a protruding or sagging abdomen, which can occur due to factors like pregnancy, significant weight loss, aging, or genetics.

An abdominoplasty is ideal for individuals with loose skin and weakened abdominal muscles, particularly after significant weight loss due to bariatric surgery, diet, or medication. It is most effective when you have lost a substantial amount of weight, your weight is stable, and your nutrition is good. We will provide guidance on improving nutrition and supplements that support optimal wound healing, boost immunity, and reduce the risk of complications.

This surgery is also perfect for patients seeking to enhance or maintain their natural, beautiful shape.

Belt Lipectomy

What is Belt Lipectomy

Belt lipectomy, often referred to as a “body lift,” is a surgical procedure designed to target the lower body by removing excess skin and fat from the abdomen, hips, thighs, and buttocks. It targets the lower torso and is commonly performed to address sagging skin and fat, particularly after significant weight loss and is often performed together with buttock augmentation. The aim is to achieve a more comprehensive improvement in body contour, resulting in a smoother and more toned appearance around the midsection and lower body.

The procedure typically involves making a bikini-line circumferential incision around the lower body , allowing for the removal of excess skin and fat from the abdomen, back, hips, and thighs. Dr. Florica focuses on adding more depth by muscle imbrication, buttock augmentation and upper thigh lift which helps to achieve smoother, more contoured body lines and a more balanced, aesthetically pleasing silhouette.

Thigh Lipectomy

What is Thigh Lipectomy

A thigh lipectomy and lift is a surgical procedure designed to reshape and contour the thighs by removing excess skin and fat while tightening the underlying tissues. This procedure is particularly beneficial for individuals who have experienced significant weight loss, resulting in sagging skin.

  • Incisions: along the inner thigh and/or groin area, strategically placed to minimize visible scarring; the location and length of the incisions depend on the extent of correction needed.
  • Liposuction (if needed): is performed in conjunction with the lift to remove excess fat and enhance the contour of the thighs.
  • Skin Removal, Tightening and Lift: excess skin is removed, and the remaining skin is tightened and smoothed to create a more toned and youthful appearance. The underlying tissues may also be adjusted to provide better support; groin and buttock skin excision are performed to lift the sagging inner thigh.
  • The skin is closed with dissolvable sutures and the wounds are covered with transparent water proof dressings that are left in place for weeks; no routine drains are placed after surgery and the patient is able to walk small distances within days.
  • Improved Contour: The procedure results in smoother, firmer thighs with a more proportionate and aesthetically pleasing shape.
  • Increased Comfort: By removing excess skin, the surgery can reduce chafing and discomfort, particularly during physical activities.
  • Enhanced Confidence: Patients often experience a boost in self-confidence, feeling more comfortable in clothing and swimwear that highlight their legs.

You need to accommodate enough time for recovery. Average recovery time is two to four weeks depending upon your work.

Arm Lipectomy

What is Arm Lipectomy

An arm lipectomy, commonly known as an arm lift, is a surgical procedure designed to improve the contour and appearance of the upper arms by removing excess skin and fat. This procedure is particularly beneficial for individuals who have experienced significant weight loss or aging, which can result in loose, sagging skin on the upper arms.

  • Incision along the underside of the upper arms, typically extending from the armpit to the elbow and sometimes to the wrist. The length and pattern of the incisions depend on the amount of excess skin to be removed; the incision is placed at the lowest part of the arm in order to be almost invisible from the front or the back when the arm is down in natural position.
  • The excess skin and fat is removed and the skin is closed with dissolvable suture and dressed with water proof transparent dressings that are left in place for several weeks. No drains are placed after surgery.
  • The arms can be used within a few days for routine, low effort tasks.

The arm lipectomy is a straight forward procedure with quick recovery and excellent results within weeks. Typically, after 2 weeks, you can perform routine, low effort tasks.
