Dr Oliver Florica FRACS performs the circumferential abdominoplasty — a comprehensive 360° body lift designed for patients who've achieved significant weight loss and are ready for the next step.
No obligation. Sam, our patient coordinator, replies within a few hours.
Also known as a lower body lift or belt lipectomy, this is the most comprehensive body contouring procedure available — addressing the abdomen, flanks, lower back, buttocks, and outer thighs in a single operation.
Unlike a standard tummy tuck, the circumferential abdominoplasty works completely around the lower trunk — removing excess skin from the front, sides, and back in one procedure.
Dr Florica's technique includes buttock augmentation and lift as part of the procedure, achieving a more balanced and aesthetically complete result.
Whether you've had bariatric surgery or achieved weight loss through lifestyle, this procedure is specifically designed to address the excess skin that follows significant body changes.
Dr Florica was one of the first surgeons in Australia to use robotic assistance for circumferential body lifts — enabling more precise, less invasive technique.
Most patients who do well with this procedure share these characteristics:
The panniculectomy component of the procedure may attract a Medicare rebate for eligible patients. This is assessed at your initial consultation based on clinical criteria. No referral from your GP is required to book a consultation with Dr Florica.
All procedures are performed at Sydney Adventist Hospital or Delmar Private — fully accredited private hospitals, not a day-surgery clinic.
Dr Florica uses robotic assistance for precision muscle repair — helping to reduce recovery time and improve results.
Trained across five countries, including fellowships at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS).

A GP referral may help with Medicare rebates on certain components of the procedure depending on your clinical circumstances — our team will advise at your consultation.
Body contouring is generally recommended once your weight has been stable for 3–6 months — typically 12–18 months after bariatric surgery. Operating while weight is still fluctuating can significantly compromise results. Good nutritional status and adequate vitamin and protein levels are also important for safe wound healing.
Suitable candidates are adults who have achieved significant weight loss, have maintained a stable weight for 3–6 months, have excess skin causing cosmetic or functional concerns, are non-smokers (or have ceased well before surgery), and are in good general health. The best way to confirm suitability is through a personal consultation with Dr Florica.
The panniculectomy component (removal of a large abdominal apron) may attract Medicare rebates when performed for functional clinical reasons — such as chronic skin infections, rashes, or hygiene difficulties — following significant weight loss. Most other body contouring procedures are considered cosmetic and are not covered by Medicare. Our team will advise on eligibility at your consultation.
A personalised Informed Financial Consent (IFC) detailing all fees, applicable Medicare rebates, health fund contributions, and your estimated out-of-pocket costs will be provided before any surgery is booked. We encourage you to contact your health fund before your consultation to understand your level of cover.
A circumferential lower body lift can be performed in two separate stages. Dr Florica performs the complete procedure as a single-stage operation, refined over more than a decade. This means one anaesthetic, one hospital admission, and one recovery — rather than two of each. The result is a comprehensive 360-degree reshaping achieved in a single session, with reduced total cost, less cumulative surgical risk, and a faster path to the final result.
Recovery depends on the extent of surgery. For circumferential abdominoplasty: hospital stay is 2–4 nights, light activities at 3–4 weeks, full activity at 8–12 weeks. Final results are visible at 6–12 months as swelling resolves and scars mature. Every patient recovers differently — Dr Florica will provide a detailed recovery plan at your consultation.
Yes. Body contouring always involves incisions and therefore scars. Scars are carefully positioned in locations that can be concealed by clothing and swimwear, and typically fade significantly over 12–18 months. The vast majority of patients consider the scars an acceptable trade-off for the improvement in body contour and daily comfort.
Yes. Smoking significantly impairs wound healing by reducing blood flow to the skin and dramatically increases the risk of wound breakdown, infection, and skin necrosis. Cessation of smoking (including vaping and nicotine products) at least 6 weeks before surgery is required. Dr Florica will not operate on active smokers.
In many cases, yes — the circumferential abdominoplasty already combines multiple areas in a single operation. Arm lifts and thigh lifts are typically staged separately (3–6 months later) to limit anaesthetic time and allow optimal healing. Dr Florica will recommend the safest and most effective staging at your consultation.
